B-Physics: From the SM flavour structure to new discoveries

Johannes Albrecht, TU Dortmund

Abstract:

These lectures will introduce precision measurements as tool to access energy scales much above those directly accessible by accelerators. We discuss historical examples where precision physics has led the way to later discoveries. The focus of the lectures will be on results from the currently running B-Physics experiment LHCb and prospects for the upcoming Belle 2 experiment. A detailed discussion of the anomalies currently seen in the data is included. The lectures finish with an overview of potential new, heavy particles that could cause the anomalies and the potential to discover these particles in direct searches. The focus of the lectures will be on results from the currently running B-Physics experiment LHCb and prospects for the upcoming Belle 2 experiment. A detailed discussion of the anomalies currently seen in the data is included.
