Searching for new physics at the intensity frontier

Niklaus Berger, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz

Abstract:

The Standard Model of particle physics is hugely successful at explaining collider observables, but there is ample astronomical and cosmological evidence for new physics beyond the Standard Model. Some of the most promising routes towards uncovering new physics are via high intensity, low energy precision experiments. Many exciting experiments in this area are currently running or being constructed. The lectures will discuss the muon gyromagnetic ratio, the weak mixing angle and the electric dipole moment of the neutron as examples.
