The formation of structure in cosmology

Abstract:
These lectures give an overview of the development of the inhomogeneous universe, from small initial fluctuations to the microwave background and the present-day web of galaxies and their large-scale clustering. Modern measurements of these patterns give detailed information on the geometry of the universe and its matter content, as well as testing fundamental assumptions such as the operation of gravity on the scale of the visible universe.
